STYLES OF PROGRAMMING

OLDER ADULT

10) Goo Goo Dolls - IRIS

TEENAGER

I chose to do hot adult contemporary for a teenagers show as this mostly includes top 40 chart hits music. This can include various music tastes.

The format for my student show is very important as i wouldn't personally listen to a chart hits radio station if they played a heavy rock/metal song. This would lose any target audience i was aiming to draw in and i would also be targeting the wrong crowd.

The target audience for these music formats are mainly from 16-30. As i am in this category, i will base my radio show around the music I listen to.

The older adults may also listen this this format, listening to radio station like BBC RADIO 2, they mix older tracks that draw their audience in and combine the two to create a music sequence that will be frequently listened to. This technique for allows the radio producer to play the recent singles along with the tracks that have already gained fame. Making this a win win situation for both the radios audiences and the artists.

  1. Good start Jade, your sequences are appropriate for your target audiences.

It would be good if you could give a more detailed description of the adult contemporary format, the styles and genres of music it includes and how these relate/engage to the target audience (you can write this as a comment reply)

Also, don't forget to post up your half term homework!
